Alvora / About

Alvora · Jaipur, India

A personalapproach to stone.

Design is at the heart of every Alvora commission. We approach each sculpture as a considered work of art—shaped by your brief, the character of the stone and the space it will inhabit.

Form, proportion and detail deserve care long before the first cut.

01 / The workshop behind Alvora

A language of carving.A wider field of ideas.

The Star Murti Museum is the Jaipur workshop behind Alvora. Its practice spans sculptural and figurative work, decorative craft and architectural stonework. Alvora opens a contemporary conversation around that breadth: abstract forms, portraits and figures, furniture, and project-specific carved or inlaid details.

Different ideas ask different things of stone. A sculptural object, a console and an architectural element each need their own review of material, scale, design rights and practical requirements. We begin with those questions, rather than a promise that every reference can be reproduced.

02 / Meet the founder

A family craft.A wider possibility.

Naman Agarwal founded Alvora to bring his family’s marble-making tradition into a wider conversation with contemporary homes, collectors and designers. His ambition is not to be defined by one kind of object, but to explore what stone can become—from expressive sculpture to furniture shaped around the way people live.

Rooted in Jaipur and looking beyond borders, he brings an interest in design, technology and thoughtful systems to the family’s craft. At Alvora, he remains your personal point of contact: listening to the idea, understanding the setting and helping turn a first conversation into a considered brief.

03 / From idea to setting

A real piece.A real place.

A Udaipur Green marble console, made in Jaipur and installed in London, offers a glimpse of the workshop’s process. Its record follows the stone from the source block through shaping and finishing to the completed installation.

Completed-work photographs and catalogue references serve different purposes. One records what has been made; the other can help begin a conversation about a new direction.

04 / How we begin

Your idea.Considered together.

A sketch, a reference or a description of your space gives us a starting point. Together, we explore the form, stone and scale, then review feasibility and the scope of a quotation. Natural variation is part of the material; details are resolved for the individual piece.

Design-development work, samples, fees, revisions and delivery responsibilities are discussed before they are agreed. An enquiry starts the conversation, not an order or a free design service.

Your commission begins here

What are you imagining?

Answer five short questions. Your concept sheet builds beside you; render a first picture of the idea, then email it to Naman.

What would you like made?
How should it feel?
How large, roughly?
I know the measurements
Which materials?
Where will it live?
Where should Naman reply?

A first picture of your idea appears in the panel. Render before you send and it travels with your sheet.

Your answers stay in your browser until you press a button. “Email my concept” sends your sheet, and a link to your render if you made one, to Naman through this website. WhatsApp opens a draft with The Star Murti Museum, the workshop behind Alvora. A render sends your description, and any reference image you add, to an image service to produce the picture. This is a conversation, not an order: material, scale, feasibility, design-development scope and any fees are reviewed for each commission. See our privacy notice.
