01 / The brief
Start withhow you gather.
There is no catalogue of dining tables to choose from. Each one is a commission, and the first questions are practical.
How many people sit at it, and how are the chairs arranged? Food contact and frequent use affect the material and the finish, so say how the table will be used.

02 / The stone
A large surface.Choose it slowly.
A dining table shows a great deal of the stone, so the block matters. Colour, movement and finish are considered against the form you have in mind.
Suitable stone and available block references are discussed before specifications and a quotation are agreed.
The marble pictured is Udaipur Green, from a console the workshop made for a private London home. These photographs show that stone and its finishing, not a dining table.
03 / The structure
Weight, supportand the way in.
Reviewed for each bespoke dining table.
- 01
Top and base, together.
Material, weight, support and approximate dimensions are considered together.
- 02
The floor and the route.
Tell us about stairs, a lift, narrow doors or a placement above ground level. You do not need to solve the engineering yourself.
- 03
At the centre.
A marble Lazy Susan can be considered in a custom size for your table.

04 / The concept
Describe it.See a first picture.
In the concept studio, choose Dining table, then add a size and materials. Your answers build a concept sheet.
You can render a first picture of the idea, then email the sheet to Naman. The image shown here is an example concept of a side table, not a made piece.
Questions before you begin
Commissioning adining table.
What size can a custom marble dining table be?
It is sized for your room and your seating. Share an approximate length, width and height with units, or a diameter for a round table, and tell us how many people it should seat. Final dimensions are agreed after the workshop has reviewed weight and support.
How is the stone chosen for a dining table?
Begin with a colour or a stone you have in mind, and say whether you prefer quiet or dramatic veining and a polished or matte appearance. Tell us the table is for dining, because food contact and frequent use affect the review of material and finish. Suitable stone and available block references are then discussed with you.
Can I see the table before it is made?
You can see a first picture. In the concept studio, five short questions build a concept sheet, and you can render an image of the idea before you send it to Naman. It is a visual starting point, not a dimensioned drawing or a promise that the table can be made exactly as pictured.
Can a marble dining table be delivered outside India?
The workshop behind Alvora made a marble console in Jaipur that is now installed in a private London home. For an international dining table enquiry, include your city and postal code. Packing, freight, insurance, import responsibilities, unloading and installation are set out in your individual quotation.
How do I start a dining table commission?
Use the commission composer at the end of this page and choose Dining table. Your idea and destination are enough for the first conversation. An enquiry is not an order. Design scope, feasibility and fees are agreed before work proceeds.

Your answers stay in your browser until you press a button. “Email my concept” sends your sheet, and a link to your render if you made one, to Naman through this website. WhatsApp opens a draft with The Star Murti Museum, the workshop behind Alvora. A render sends your description, and any reference image you add, to an image service to produce the picture. This is a conversation, not an order: material, scale, feasibility, design-development scope and any fees are reviewed for each commission. See our privacy notice.
